L-lysine is one of the essential amino acids. Since the body cannot produce this amino acid itself, it must be ingested through food. The main sources are animal proteins, while it is also found to a lesser extent in grains, legumes and nutritional yeast. Vegans who strictly avoid animal products are strongly advised to take lysine supplements to meet their needs. L-lysine acts as an antagonist to the amino acid L-arginine.

Application
